And He {Iesous, Warning Teacher} said to His disciples, “It is impossible for stumbling-blocks {skandala: enticements to sin} not to come, but woe to the one through whom they come.”
It is better for him if a millstone {mylikos lithos: heavy grinding stone} is placed around his neck and he is thrown into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones {mikros: vulnerable child} to stumble.
Pay attention {prosechete: maintain vigilance} to yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive {aphes: release from obligation} him.
And if he should sin {hamartē: act in serious wrong} against you seven times in a day, and seven times he should return to you, saying, “I repent,” you shall forgive him {aphēseis: grant full pardon}.
And the apostles said to the Lord {Kyrios, Faith-Strengthening Master}, “Add to us faith {pistin: steadfast reliance}.”
And the Lord {Kyrios, Authoritative Teacher} said, "If you have faith {pistin: steadfast reliance} like a mustard seed, you would say to this sycamine tree, 'Be uprooted and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."
But which of you, having a servant who is plowing {arotrionta: hard field labor} or tending sheep, will say to him when he comes in from the field, “Come immediately and recline {anapese: lie down at the meal}”?
But will he not rather say to him, “Prepare {hetoimason: to make ready} what I am to eat, and, girding {perizosamenos: girding for service} yourself, serve me until I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you may eat and drink”?
Does he have gratitude {charin: thankful favor} toward the servant because he carried out the tasks {diatakhthenta: required duties} that were commanded?
So you also, when you have done all that has been commanded you, say, “We are unworthy {achreioi: without worth} servants; we have done what we were obligated {opheilomen: morally bound} to do.”
And it happened, as He {Iesous, Purposeful Traveler} was journeying to Jerusalem, that He was passing through the midst {meson: region between districts} of Samaria and Galilee.
And as He {Iesous, Compassionate Healer} was entering into a certain village, ten leprous {leproi: having skin disease} men met Him, who stood at a distance.
And they lifted up their voice, saying, “Jesus {Iesous, Divine Healer}, Master {epistata: Revered Overseer}, have mercy on us.”
And when He {Iesous, Authoritative Healer} saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests {hiereus: temple ministers}.” And it happened that as they were going, they were cleansed.
But one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, returned with a loud voice {phones: vocal sound}, glorifying God {Theos, Worthy of Praise}.
And he fell upon his face at His {Iesous, Merciful Healer} feet, giving thanks to Him; and he was a Samaritan {Samarites: despised outsider}.
And having answered, Jesus {Iesous, Compassionate Healer} said, “Were not ten cleansed {ekatharisthesan: declared ritually clean}? But where are the nine?”
Were none found having returned to give glory to God {Theos, Merciful Healer}, except this foreigner {allogenes: non-Israelite}?
And He {Iesous, Saving Healer} said to him, “Arise, go your way; your faith {pistis: trusting dependence} has saved you.”
And having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God {basileia tou theou, Present Reign} is coming, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation {paratereseos: outward scrutiny}.”
Nor will they say, “Behold, here,” or, “There.” For behold, the kingdom of God {Theos, Present King} is in your midst {entos: among you}.
And He {Iesous, Prophetic Teacher} said to the disciples, “Days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man {huios tou anthropou, Messianic King}, and you will not see it.”
And they will say to you, “Behold, there; behold, here.” Do not go out {apelthete: going out}, nor pursue them {dioxete: eager pursuit}.
For just as the lightning flashes {astraptousa: sudden brilliance} from under the sky to under the sky, so will the Son of Man {huios tou anthropou, Revealed Messiah} be in His day.
But first, it is necessary for Him {Iesous, Suffering Servant} to suffer many things {polla: many hardships} and to be rejected by this generation.
And just as it happened in the days of Noah {Noe: flood era patriarch}, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man {huios tou anthropou, Eschatological Judge}.
They were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah {Noe: faithful survivor} entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed {apolesen: utterly wiped out} them all.
Likewise, just as it happened in the days of Lot {Lot: warning example}, they were eating {esthion: ongoing activity} and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.
But on the day when Lot went out from Sodom {Sodomōn: corrupt city}, it rained fire and sulfur {theion: burning mineral} from heaven and destroyed them all.
Even so it will be on the day when the Son of Man {huios tou anthropou, Revealed Judge-King} is revealed {apokalyptetai: openly manifested}.
In that day, whoever is on the housetop, and his possessions {skeue: personal belongings} are in the house, let him not come down to take them; and likewise, whoever is in the field, let him not turn back {opiso: former state}.
Remember {mnemoneuete: keep in mind} Lot’s {Lot: sobering example} wife.
Whoever seeks to preserve his life {psyche: soul, self} will lose it; but whoever loses his life will keep it alive {zoogonesei: keep alive}.
I {Iesous, Eschatological Judge} say to you, in that night {nykti: sudden judgment time} there will be two on one bed; the one will be taken, and the other will be left.
Two women will be grinding {alethousai: daily labor} together at the same place; one will be taken {paralemphthesetai: seized away}, but the other will be left.
Two will be in the field {agros: open land}; the one {heis: solitary individual} will be taken, and the other will be left.
And having answered, they said to Him, “Where, Lord {Kyrios, Eschatological Judge}?” But He said to them, “Where the body {soma: lifeless remains} is, there also the eagles will be gathered.”
